Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, also known as M G University, and it was established on 2 October 1983 in Kottayam.
The University enrolls 1,50,000 students on an average every year for 210 Courses in graduation, post graduation and M.Phil/Ph.D. programmes through various departments and colleges.
